Not knowing how or where to start can be an intimidating hurdle when learning about shooting and firearm ownership. The First Shots® program, offered by NSSF®-The Firearm Industry Trade Association®, is tailor-made for instructors to provide a safe and fun introductory experience. Students leave the classes knowing how to safely handle, operate and store a firearm and instructors feel confident that they provide the best training possible.
The First Shots program supports NSSF-member range facilities, partnering organizations and affiliated trainers across the United States to safely and enjoyably introduce individuals to the fun of shooting.
NSSF provides all the tools needed to plan, promote, host and maximize First Shots events at a range. Any range or instructor can adopt First Shots, whether you feature indoor or outdoor shooting options, and all types of firearms including handguns, rifles and shotguns.

What is Offered to Hosts
As a First Shots Host, you’ll have access to shooting supplies (ammunition, targets, eye and ear protection), marketing support, course curriculums and training guides and a unique customer reward program to encourage your first-time customers to become repeat visitors.

Requirements for the Program
The program is highly adaptable for hosts. Becoming a host requires NSSF membership as a range or instructor unless you are affiliated with one of the program partner organizations.
